問② Do you think that having a pet is a good idea?

Write a short paragraph within 150 to 200 words.

問③ Read the following passage.

These hard-working animals help pollinate* over 75% of our flowering plants, and nearly 75% of our crops. Often we may not notice the hummingbirds, bats, bees, beetles, butterflies, and flies that carry pollen from one plant to another as they collect nectar. Yet without them, wildlife would have fewer nutritious berries and seeds, and we would miss many fruits, vegetables, and nuts, like blueberries, squash, and almonds … not to mention chocolate and coffee … all of which depend on pollinators.

According to the passage, what will happen without pollinators?

  1. Humans will sneeze more often as they get more pollen.
  2. Crops and vegetables will be more likely to get diseases.
  3. There will be fewer crops and food resources for wildlife.
  4. The number of plants will stay the same.

解説

問① Choose the word or group of words that best fits in the blank.

The hospital (             ) patients with infectious diseases from other patients.

to separate B. separate C. separates D.to be separated

→答え C. separates

問② Do you think that having a pet is a good idea?

Write a short paragraph within 150 to 200 words.

→答えの一例

I think that having a pet is a good idea, because you are able to gain responsibility through raising a pet. I have a cousin who is 3 years old. I took care of him for 3 days with my family while my aunt and uncle were away for a holiday. I helped my mother change his diapers and feed him 3 times a day. He cried a lot during the night and I woke up a lot of times to take care of him. It was a little bit stressful but I enjoyed the process. Through these tasks, I think I was able to gain responsibility. I think these tasks are similar to the tasks you must do for a pet. You must feed the pet, clean up their waste and take the pet for a walk, if necessary. Therefore, I think that having a pet is a good idea because you are able to gain responsibility.(158単語)

  3. There will be fewer crops and food resources for wildlife.
  4. The number of plants will stay the same.

→答え C. There will be fewer crops and food resources for wildlife.

なぜなら、Yet without them, wildlife would have fewer nutritious berries and seeds, and と記載があり、themはpollinatorsを指し、この文章はpollinatorsがなければ沢山の農作物が手に入れられなくなるという意味だからです。
